Types of holiday

We offer set itineraries (some escorted) with options for flexibility through 'Make it Yours' experiences, extensions and upgrades.

All Down to Earth holidays are set itineraries, but the flexibility of being able to add excursions, extend the trip, or upgrade some hotels means you can make these trips what you want them to be.

Some trips are escorted. These are particularly good if you want the constant company of fellow travellers, and a tour leader/guide who will be with you for the whole trip. Most of these trips are guaranteed with a min of 4 people and take a max of about 12-16. They are on set dates a few times a year. For many of these tours we tend to work with our trusted local partners and offer their departure dates. This means that people from other travel companies may be on the trip.

Our other trips are guaranteed with two people. These holidays generally have a wider choice of dates, for example a Kruger safari is available many Mondays of the year.  On these trips you might find yourselves having private services throughout your holiday. However if someone else also books that trip on the same date, key services will be shared. This will mean sharing transfers and guiding (and you may be at the same hotel), but at other times you will be doing your own thing.  Also, you will have different guides at different places, rather than one guide staying with you for the whole holiday.
