Description

This extension has been designed to be taken after one of our Tanzania safaris or a Kili climb.

Shooting Star is a relaxed, family-run hotel overlooking the fine sands of Kiwengwa beach and lush coconut plantations. There are 3 garden rooms, but you'll be staying in one of the larger seaview rooms. These have high ceilings, carved Zanzibari beds with beautifully dyed mosquito net canopies and ensuite bathrooms.

The open-air restaurant and bar have views over the lovely gardens, the reef and the Indian Ocean beyond. A wide variety of African and international food is served, with lobster, meat grills and smoked fish being a speciality.

There are many activities available including diving, snorkelling, boat trips and windsurfing. You can visit local fishing villages or shop at the local bazaar. It is also possible to hire bicycles and explore a little further afield. Of course, you can always opt to relax by the pool or on the beach.

Detailed Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Fly from Dar es Salaam, Kili or Arusha to Zanzibar (flights not included). You'll be met on arrival and transferred to Shooting Star Lodge, your home for the next 4 nights. Relax! (D)
  2. Days 2-4: You have three full days in which to relax at Shooting Star Lodge. Enjoy doing nothing much or perhaps take part in some of the many activities available to you. (B,D)
  3. Day 5: You'll be transferred to Zanzibar airport for your onward flight (flights not included). (B)

Is it for you?

Perfect for relaxing by the sea, with opportunities to dive and snorkel and visit local villages.

Best times to go

November to March are the best months for snorkelling and diving, though these can be done year round. Other watersports are good from June onwards. The long rains are usually in April and May.

Getting there

This extension starts and ends in Zanzibar, which is served by Dar es Salaam. The flight time is 15 minutes. We can provide all the connecting internal flights for you to join this to your itinerary.
