Description

Essaouira is a perfect place to unwind after any of our Marrakech-based holidays. It is an attractive coastal resort with an old walled city and thriving fishing port. It is well known for its craft workshops, producing a varierty of wooden objects. The lively souk is well worth exploring - try your haggling skills and see if you can pick up a bargain! There are some great wind-swept beaches, too, which are popular with surfers.

We have prepared some optional activities you may want to try - a half day or full day eco walking tour, a sailing tour, a tour of the region and the souk. Or maybe you just want to relax and watch the world go by, try some fresh seafood in the harbour, stroll along the narrow streets of white and blue painted houses or just enjoy the town's relaxed atmosphere. You're staying in a lovely small riad.

Detailed Itinerary

  1. DAY 1: You'll be collected from your riad in Marrakech and driven the two and a half hours to Essaouira on the coast. Essaouira is a port and fishing town with walled ramparts, a lively town centre and a souk with superb craftsmen. There are also some fabulous wind-swept beaches. Your guide will give you a short tour of the town, then the rest of the time is youe own to explore and relax. You're staying in a lovely small riad. (B)
  2. DAY 2: A full day at leisure. Today you can just relax and wander around the town, or head for the beach. You might want to try one of our Make it Yours optional extras - a sailing tour, a full or halfday eco walking tour, a guided tour of the region and the souk. (B)
  3. DAY 3: You have a free morning in Essaouira, then after lunch you'll be driven back to Marrakech. (B)
  4. DAY 4: You'll be collected and taken to the airport in time for your onward flight. (B)

Best times to go

Essaouira can be visited all year round. It can be very hot in July and August.
