Description

Udaipur is famous for its lofty lakes, huge palaces, massive forts and artistic temples, so here we have a few for you to explore.

Ranakpur temples are acclaimed world-wide for their intricate and superb architectural style. These temples form one of the five major pilgrimages of the Jains. The most distinctive features are the 29 halls of the temple which contain 1444 pillars of which no two are exactly alike.

Eklingji Temple is one of the most famous temples of Rajasthan. Built in 734 AD, the complex encloses 108 temples with a flight of steps leading down to the water tank (Kund). The temples are exquisitely carved out of sandstone and marble and are devoted to Lord Shiva.

Nagda was once the capital of the kingdom of Mewar and was destroyed by Muslim invaders of the Mughal dynasty. The temples here are rated to be amongst the best in India.

Chittorgarh Fort has received the credit of being the largest fort of India, standing on a 240 hectares site, on a 180 meter high hill that rises rapidly from the plains below. The fort has a long story of romance, courage, determination and sacrifice.

These are all worth a visit, and worthy of a good few photographs!
