The foothills of the Himalayas run across the top of India, and this extensions takes you to the historic hill town of Shimla. You'll take the express train from Delhi to Kalka and then transfer by "Toy Train" to Shimla, a really beautiful town surrounded by picturesque pine forests.
The unique thing about Shimla is that it still retains its colonial charm and this creates an ambience that isn't found anywhere else in India. There is plenty to see and do here, and it's the perfect places to indulge in some good photography. You will have a complete free day to explore this exciting town, and if you're into shopping then this is a great place to indulge! The Mall is the place to check out for the best in garment and textile industry. Shimla also remains an ideal spot for adventure sports, including some fabulous treks and fishing.
You'll have two nights here staying in a colonial hotel on the mall, before heading back to Delhi for a final night, and the following morning you will be taken to the airport for your onward journey.
