Description
This 4 day extension is designed to be added to our Ecuador and Galapagos trips. You could fit this in either before or after your main trip, and it can also be combined with our other extensions, depending on your time restrictions.
You'll head south of Quito to the Avenue of Volcanoes where you'll enjoy a guided tour of Cotopaxi National Park, including lunch at Tambopaxi mountain lodge. The snow-capped volcano (5897,) from which the park gets its name is the highest active volcano in the world. Limpiopungo Lake (3840m) is a lovely place to walk, and you should manage to see plenty of birds within the park. Day 1 ends at your rustic hacienda in the foothills of Cotopaxi. (L,D)
Day 2 is a free day for you to explore the gorgeous Cotopaxi region on your own. You can take some great walks around here, or the hacienda has a number of other activities, such as horse riding and mountain biking which you may consider. (B,D)
On day 3 you'll be taken back to Quito whenever you like, where you'll have another night in a hotel to do as you please. (B)
Day 4 you move on...either to another extension, your main trip, or maybe this is the end of your holiday and time to fly home.
